Private Pilot Training

The Private Pilot License (PPL) is the first step in your aviation journey. This program teaches you to safely operate a single-engine aircraft, navigate airspace, communicate with air traffic control, and make sound aeronautical decisions. Whether you want to fly for recreation, personal travel, or as the foundation for a professional career, the PPL opens the door to all future ratings and advanced flight opportunities.

To enroll in Private Pilot Training, students must meet the following requirements:

• Be at least 17 years old

• Read, speak, write, and understand English

• Provide proof of citizenship (passport or birth certificate) or TSA approval

• Hold an FAA 3rd Class Medical Certificate or higher

This ensures that all students are ready to train safely and efficiently.

Our training emphasizes proficiency, confidence, and practical skills:

• One-on-one instruction tailored to your learning pace

• Integration of ground and flight training for maximum retention

• Scenario-based learning for real-world decision-making

• Training conducted in the Piper Cherokee 28-140 (160HP), a 4-seat IFR-equipped aircraft with Garmin 430W and ADS-B Out

• Lessons at Oakland County International Airport (KPTK) with a 5,000 ft paved runway and additional grass runways

This approach ensures students gain the skills needed to fly safely and confidently.

• Lesson Duration: Most lessons are 1–1.5 hours of flight time

• Total Flight Time: Minimum 40 hours (FAA requirement); most students complete slightly more to gain confidence

• Estimated Cost: $7,000–$12,000 depending on flight hours and progression

• Ground School: 12-week program, 2 hours per week, $250
